Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, if performed by a fully qualified practitioner is it completely safe. All needles are one use and disposed of immediately after use, therefore no cross contamination can occur. Our therapists are fully trained and undertake annual CPD (continual professional development), to remain compliant.

Does medical acupuncture hurt?

No, it is not painful but can be mildly uncomfortable for clients already experiencing discomfort from a particular injury. The discomfort is worth it when clients are rewarded with great results (see testimonials for client feedback).

How does medical acupuncture work?

A fine sterile needle less than a 1/3 of a mm in diameter is inserted directly into the muscle spasm / site of pain , inciting a twitch response similar to a static sensation. This simulates a chemical response allowing the muscle to relax and repair.

What does medical acupuncture do?

Our therapists use medical acupuncture to deactivate muscle spasms which are causing pain and dysfunction.

What is the difference between a sports masseur and a sports therapist?

Sport therapy practitioner’s primary role is in treatment and management of injury. Using a variety of modalities including sports massage, western (or medical) acupuncture, rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning.

Do I have to be sporty to have a sports massage?

No. Anyone can have a sports massage, as the treatment can be adapted to suit all clients.

What is the difference between a sports massage and a relaxing massage?

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage designed for clients who partake in a high level of activity. Therapist will apply firm pressure suited to you throughout the treatment, helping relax and relieve fatigued muscles and aid recovery.
